Sketch Of Niagara Gorge
This sketch represents the point where the Niagara River gorge terminates, and the river breaks out into a wide river that concourses the next seven or so miles out to Lake Ontario. Seen as a point on a "West Sea," here is the origin of the "line" (escarpment ridge) that separated the Land Bountiful on the south from the Land Desolation on the north.

Ridgeway On The Niagara Escarpment
A village located on Route 104, the old trail ridge road, as the name of the village implies. Here the escarpment ridge is still much in evidence, although not a high ridge at this point. This escarpment ridge was used in ancient times as a "line" upon which to build fortifications. This is a view of a West Sea (Lake Ontario) lying some eight miles north of Ridgeway.

Iroquois National Wildlife Preserve
Located a few miles south of Ridgeway is a national wildlife preserve. This natural preserve is made up of shallow bodies of water containing many species of fowl and animals. Here beautiful plants and animals grow in rich profusion. It is possible this land is part of the ancient land of Bountiful mentioned in the Book of Mormon, a place where wild animals of all kinds came for food.

Indian Falls
A view of these beautiful falls is obtained on the Tonawanda Indian Reservation, just south of the Iroquois National Wldlife Preserve. About 35 miles to the west from these falls, is the city of Buffalo, so named after the huge herds of buffalo that once roamed the region. The French name "beef in the water," shortened to "buffalo," referred to herds of buffalo (cattle of the Book of Mormon) in water.
